Do you need to get insurance these days to host a fireworks event?

I volunteer at a local sports club - very small place - at what point do you need to insure a fireworks party? Do we need event insurance, even if we put in place H&S? The club is insured, but I don't want to call the insurance company to acknowledge the event without an idea of how much it should cost - we are not for profit.

You will surely need public liability insurance!

Yes, you definitely need event insurance - imagine all the things that could go wrong. Do you remember the multiple car crash which was at one point thought to have been caused by smoke from a bonfire at a public event? That's the sort of thing that you just can't foresee. Don't take the risk.
