Amending a birth certificate

Hi, can anyone give me advice on the procedure to amend a birth certificate to include the father's details please?

Brief back story - mother registered child's birth alone without telling the father.

Have since been through court proceedings to acknowledge the father and a parental responsibility order and child arrangements order have been obtained.

Now the father wants to apply for a new birth certificate showing his name as father.

Does he need the mother's consent or can he do it alone?

What documents would he need?

He hasn't got a copy of the original birth certificate.

Can anyone offer advice?

This link may help - www.gov.uk/adding-fathers-name-birth-certificate

"If there’s been a ‘Declaration of Parentage’
A Declaration of Parentage is when the court decides who the father of a baby is. You don’t need to do anything to change the birth record if there’s been a Declaration of Parentage made by a court. The court will tell the General Register Office and the birth will be re-registered. You’ll need to order a new birth certificate if you want one."

He can order new copies of the birth certificate online.

Was there a Declaration of Parentage made during the court case? Reading the info on gov.uk it sounds a like without that the mother's consent is required.

No declaration of parentage was made, I think because a DNA test had already been done and the mother acknowledged in court that he is the father.

We emailed the court to ask if they would issue a new birth certificate but they said they don't.

They weren't very helpful actually - just said they don't do it and to contact Citizens Advice or a solicitor.

Thought we'd give mumsnet a try first to see if anyone on here knows the procedure.

Looking at the form there's no way it can be completed without the mother. I assume she doesn't want to?

That forms says "...the above or a Parental Responsibility Agreement" in section 12. The OP says her partner has a PRA so he should be able to do it with that.

Ah yes you're right AliceTown. The form is written in such a way that it is addressing the mother, i.e. 'complete this form if you wish to add the natural father to the birth certificate' but as you say, in Section 12 it states:
If one of the natural parents is unwilling to co-operate with a re-registration application, you should be aware that there is the facility for only ONE parent to re-register the birth using a court order or a Parental Responsibility Agreement.
