Has anyone had a solicitor send a cease and desist letter?

I'm trying to find a solicitor to send a cease and desist letter to someone who won't leave me alone. I know I could go to the police but I don't want to do that just yet, but I want them to know I'm serious about getting them to stop their contact as it's inappropriate and intimidating.

I can't use my normal solicitor as they've just wound up their practice and retired and have no idea how to go about finding a new one to do this for me and I don't want to end up with a central London firm who will charge me the earth.

Has anyone done this and could they recommend who they used? Or are there other courses of action. I know that I can send one myself but part of the issue with this individual is that they don't seem to pay any attention to what I say so I need someone else to say it too.

Hear, hear regular.

You should be able to find a solicitor in that case. Even in my business law areas of law I do letters for clients as long as the letter complies with my professional conduct rules (my duty is the court as much as the client so I cannot always write what the client wants me to write in letters).

So just email some local solicitors ideally those who know about this area of law - which is potentially criminal law. In fact you could send them some draft wording by email of the gist of what you are after. The recipient may well put it in the bin but you can try. It is likely they will charge about £200 an hour plus VAT so probably you are looking at about £300 for the letter. It could set out what XYZ contact (list it) is unwanted, is potentially criminal and quote the relevant statutes and say they are not to contact you XYZ set it all out.

I agree with regular above.
Also just last week my poor client got supplies of products resumed after a solicitor's letter. There was nothing special about my letter at all and it was no better than his series of letters over 3 months but the other party took the legal letter more seriously so yes it can work.
