Shall I inform my car insurance provider at this point?

So I've just gone into the back of someone at a roundabout. My car requires a new number plate not her damage, their car appears to have minor damage to their bumper (scratches).

We've exchanged name, phone number & address. I am aware of their insurance company (obviously I won't be claiming for my car) but had a complete brain fart at the time who my car is insured with. I am now aware of this information.

Just wondering what I do now? Do I inform my insurance company at this point? Or I do wait for the other car owner to contact me requesting my details? Or should I just contact them with the details of my insurer? As at this point I'm unsure whether they will go through insurance as minimal damage.

First ever accident so am unsure how it works.

Thanks!

I believe the law requires you to pass your insurance details to the other party. They can find out your insurers from the internet free of charge anyway. Be very careful of dealing outside of insurers. Apart from damage to her car there is a possible personal injury claim.

Most insurers specify you should notify them of any accident, regardless of whether there's a claim. I don't know how many people actually do.

The only accident/claim I've ever had, I passed all the other driver's details to my insurer who dealt with the other driver and the other driver's insurer, and also arranged my repairs.

The other driver could also contact their own insurer and ask them to contact your insurer (they will find out who you're insured with, if you don't tell them). Your insurer would then contact you to find out more.

I would check my policy and see what the insurer requires; and follow up with the other driver to see if they plan to claim.
