Hi, I'll try and keep this short and sweet! Last year I ended an abusive relationship. A non molestation order ended this month. May ex partner is a waste of time. We have a child arrangement in order. However my problem is this. I've discovered that he's traveling in car without an MOT and has been for a few months now. I've notified the police three time but he's still driving it. He's due to take my boys away this weekend. I've told him that the boys cannot travel in his car with no mot. But he still will. I'm terrified something bad could happen. I'm facing a situation this Friday where I feel I should not allow him to take the boys (1 year old and a 3 year old) but I'm worried he'll get aggressive with me. What can I do? Can I try and stop him. If I don't and let him leave i feel I am just as guilty if anything bad happens. Advice please?! Thank you.

Are you absolutely sure there is no MOT (and therefore no insurance)?

Because although I can understand that uninsured vehicles might not be top police priority, it's important enough that it's usually dealt with fairly promptly.

I'm certain. I've spoken to him about it. Also on the dvla website it claims that his MOT ran out on the 8th June 2017.

Contrary to common myth (and despite what some insurers say), not having an MOT does not invalidate your insurance. The insurer cannot refuse to pay out in the event of an accident simply because the car did not have a valid MOT.
