Hi - I'm not sure the best place to ask this, but hopefully someone can help..
My husband's grandmother (DG) sadly died recently, she had two daughters - one my DH's mum. Unfortunately DHs mum passed away a few years ago, and we know that not long afterward DG changed the executors of her Will from being daughter A (Dh aunt) & B (Dh mum) to being daughter A and daughter A's Husband. (AH).
So the problem is AH is a controlling and selfish man, and has form for being quite money grabbing. DH and his siblings are all worried that as it is only A and AH acting as executors they don't know what was in G's will - and A & AH are currently in the process of selling off Gs house and stuff without consulting DH or siblings at all. I should add that it's not about the money as such, it's more that they are upset that a much loved house is being sold without anyone being asked, thinks are being taken by AH & A (photos etc) and they are being cagey about what the Will actually says. As direct descendants, I would have thought they gave a right to see the will - is this true? And if so, how? We know that originally, as you'd expect, Gs will was split 50/50 between her 2 daughters, but since DH mum died we don't know anymore, and DH suspects that G was convinced to change her will to just benefit A & AH... I'm trying to stay rational about it all, as I think it's unlikely, but they (DH & siblings)are working themselves into a mess worrying about it all and second guessing due to lack of info, so would like to try to find out how they can find more info out without going through A & AH....? Thanks! X

Once it has been through probate then a will becomes a public document and anyone can get a copy. Until then, no, they don't have a right to see it.

Are you in England or Wales?

Different procedures for Scotland and Northern Ireland - links on that page.

It is up to 10 business days to get a copy, not sure if it takes that long though.
