Has anyone used DAS legal expenses for a complex claim?

I just wondered if anyone has used DAS legal expenses for a legal claim that wasn't just a run-of-the-mill contract dispute or something. I have a complex legal claim developing unfortunately which is going to need to be acted on quickly and would need someone with specialist legal knowledge to represent me. Does anyone have experience of DAS doing complex, time-senstive claims and how did it go? Did you use them for the full case or just to carry out the initial assessment and then appoint your own choice of lawyer? Were you happy with how they handled it? Thanks for any feedback. I need to make a decision quickly and this is quite scary considering the potential costs involved.

Oh and if there are any lawyers out there who have experience of them it would be great to get your views to!

Sorry can't help with DAS but do they do their own legal work or outsource to solosicitos?

I know they are the actual providers but have you checked with them who would actually act on your behalf as legal expenses insurers usually have panel firms they use.

I used DAS further to a claim. Firstly, there were issues with DAS and them accepting I had a claim. The Ombudsman was involved and DAS were obliged to provide cover. Cover was provided through their company; DAS Law. Hopeless is an understatement with them missing their own deadlines. As a result DAS were obliged to instruct a barrister of my choice to find a way forward. I was able to bring a further claim and then instruct solicitors of my own choosing. The Legal Ombudsman agreed and ruled in my favour, but the compensation did not amount to much. However, my solicitors racked up a bill close to the indemnity limit that DAS had to pay (£50,000), but I did achieve a reasonable settlement out of court. Had DAS acted reasonably and professionally from day 1 the cost to them would have been far less. I believe that they do not expect clients to be persistent. Incidentally, unless matters have changed you cannot choose solicitors until proceedings have commenced.

Also seeing advice re DAS Law. We have an injury accident claim that's been dragging on for over 3 years. There's loads of evidence supporting the injury but they're saying they don't think we'd win in court. They seem to be trying to find every reason not to go to court. We strongly disagree and think we have an excellent case but are not sure what our next steps should be. Help!

'@peachesdolores' the statute of limitation on tort is 3 years from the date of injury (in most cases bar a few exceptional circumstances) so unless they have issued you will not be able to pursue a claim through the courts. However you may have a negligence claim against the firm supposed to be dealing with it for you.

Check everything. Question what you are asked to sign. Ask for full copy of documents. Do your own research. Question every bit of evidence.
Don’t know if you are involved already but like to compare issues.

I am resurrecting this thread again. Fire3000 I would love to compare issues with you and any others. We are in a bit of a saga with them that has dragged on and on. I am losing the will to live!
