My DB is currently go through a very messy divorce.
He had a set amount agreed with his solicitor to cover costs.
He has received a bill for quite a large sum. They are saying these are for phone calls that were not covered under their agreement.
He was not told when making these calls that they were not covered.
The solicitor also doesn't really seem to be fighting his corner.
Just seems to be going through the motions
No children involved.
He is waiting to go to court. His ex wife has some kind of legal aid. Not sure what but she only has to pay her costs when he case is settled. That's why I think she is pushing for court.
He is really unhappy with his solicitor.
Is it possible to change solicitors at such a late stage?
His solicitor is also friendly with ex w solicitor.

How the hell do you find a good solicitor?

HE should look at the terms of business letter they sent to him at the outset and examine carefully whether they have billed in accordance with that. If not, complain. If on the other hand the bill is proper, perhaps he is ringing them all the time, and they're fed up as the calls generally don't progress the case.

But if they've agreed a fixed fee in advance the TOB letter should be quite clear about that.

He hasn't got a court date yet.
So is there still time to change?
She just seems to be reacting to ex solicitor.
So, for instance he had to get his financial stuff in asap.
Whilst he had to wait ages for ex to do it.
Her accounts just said earned £x paid out £x
With absolutely no detail and his solicitor hasn't even questioned all this.
