Should be 3.

kingscrossnoodle · 03/04/2017 13:49

Six

kingscrossnoodle · 03/04/2017 13:51

You may lose your license. Just realised you have only been driving a year.

Wishiwasmoiradingle2017 · 03/04/2017 13:52

Maybe a speed awareness course?

thatdearoctopus · 03/04/2017 13:59

Lose her licence?? Highly unlikely.
Speed awareness course are for people who are just over the limit. Not sure of the figure as a % but it's something like up to 34mph in. 30 limit and maybe 45 in a 40. Any more than that and it's automatic points (3 I think) plus a fine of £100.
If it's a really massive amount over, then the points increase but someone would only lose their actual licence for Something mad, like double the limit.

kingscrossnoodle · 03/04/2017 14:00

Actually you may get away with 3 points as the new rules come into effect later this month. Sorry for misinformation I thought it was 1st April.

kingscrossnoodle · 03/04/2017 14:01

Lose her licence?? Highly unlikely. actually that is exactly what would happen if the new rules were in force. It will be 6 points for speeding and 6 points is the point where new drivers have their license revoked.

kingscrossnoodle · 03/04/2017 14:02

If it's a really massive amount over, then the points increase but someone would only lose their actual licence for Something mad, like double the limit. Having a license revoked is based on points, not speed.

thatdearoctopus · 03/04/2017 14:05

How new is new for driving though? She's been on the road for a year.

And a massive speed violation would result in an automatic ban because the points incurred for that speed would take it up to that sanction.

kingscrossnoodle · 03/04/2017 14:07

How new is new for driving though? She's been on the road for a year.. 2 years.

So yes. Had the new rules been in force the OP could have been facing revocation of license.

JustanotherJP · 04/04/2017 08:29

If you go to court...
Standard for 64/50 is 3 points and a band A fine which is half of your relevant weekly income. There will be prosecution costs (usually £85 if you plead guilty) then a court surcharge on top (10% of fine with a minimum of £30).

Mollyboom · 04/04/2017 08:34

If you receive six points you will have your licence revoked as you are a classified as a new driver, however it is unlikely given the speed that you will receive six, 3 is more likely. If you would like to confirm this please look at the Magistrates Court Sentencing Guidelines/ speeding section and the Dvla website you gov on new drivers.
