Pruning trees at rented property

My DM has moved into a rented property and would love to prune a tree which overhangs where she would like to put a table and chairs.

It isn't subject to a preservation order and not does she live in a conservation area.

Is she entitled as a tenant to prune the tree slightly or does she need her landlords permission?

Thanks in advance.

It may state in her tenancy agreement that she is supposed to maintain the garden. If it does, then she will be able to prune.

If it doesn't as a landlord I would be very happy if tenant wanted to do the gardening including pruning.

If the tree is actually in the neighbour's garden but just overhangs she is supposed to offer the cuttings to the neighbour before just disposing of them.

@Allthebestnamesareused , thank you. The tree is in her own garden, not the neighbours

She could always contact the landlord - he may even get it done for her.
