Builder in court case, what does it mean

Hi, our builder was off for a week and said he has an "on going court case" what does this mean?

He seems a good lad, worked for us before, we called him for our extension, he got to work but disappeared half way in the middle of December, not answering phone or text. Then reappeared in January, came to work for a few odd days and then off for a week...

Is there a website to check "on going court cases" we are just wondering what is going on.

Any thoughts?

Well he could be:

1. Being sued because he is shit at his hob
2. Being tried as a murderer/rapist etc
3. Being a witness
4. Supporting a friend/family member who is one of the above.

Thanks, so the times he suddenly disappeared, could he have been detained by the police....? Would they let him out if its something criminal... I wonder if there might be a website to check on ongoing court cases.

I have young children in the house and the builder has keys, he just comes and goes... it is just a worrying thought if he is being tried for something criminal.. I have no reason to think so though, the times he worked for us he seemed a decent guy.... this does sound a bit worrying..

It could be that he is suing someone he worked for who didn't pay him.

He was up front with you telling you it was to do with a court case. I suggest next time you see him just ask him.

Thanks for reviving this thread :) that makes sense, I wasn't sure if people in the circumstances would want to talk about it, considering I am only a client and it might be some personal matter. Did sound a bit scary at first, my gut feeling was that was a good lad and hope the case won't drag on for years

Have you looked at the website for your county court? Our doesn't give details of the nature of each case, but it does give names in criminal cases and who is suing who for civil.
