If a will has not been granted probate, why hasn't it and what can be done to ensure that it is?

Need a bit more detail! When did the testator die, were they married, have you seen the will?

LineyReborn · 01/09/2016 18:11

It's sometimes because the executor(s) haven't applied for it.

Mumble is right but I'd just add is there someone (living) who is named in the will as the executor/trix?That's the person who should take out probate

It isn't always necessary to get probate. It depends on the nature of the estate. If everything was held in joint names there is no need for probate. Alternatively, if the estate does not include any land, property or shares, probate is only needed if any financial institutions holding the deceased's assets insist. Why are you concerned?

Bridge has just given me the answer, thank you. It's to do with a distant relative
