Final hearing - CAO

I am part way through a CAO regarding dd. Ex was abusive towards me (witnessed by dd) and resulted in a non-molestation and subsequent prosecution for breach. I am over the earning threshold for Legal aid so i'm self-representing.

The final hearing is in a couple of months, he essentially wants daily contact. Would anyone be able to advise what happens at that particularly with regard to cross examination? ex has a solicitor and so i'm debating whether to get a barrister for the day.

Thanks very much

Have a look at this very useful website set up by Clive Baker, a Liverpool barrister, called the Merseyside Family Justice Council. Lots of tips for self-reppers.

So, got my first lot of quotes through for a barrister: 4k.

So that's not aan option.

Can anyone help with a question about a witness statement, should I include things like text messages in the appendix if I want to refer to them?

Yes - provided they don't appear in any previous court documents such as past statements.

£4k?! Is it a single day hearing?
A junior barrister would be about £800.
I paid about £1200 for a barrister who specialised in a certain area and that included a 1 hour meeting before the day and also pre and post correspondence.

That was my reaction! How did you find your barrister, and what area of the country Four if you don't mind me asking?

Midlands. I just googled barrister Midlands and found several in the right city so then I googled barrister and this one came up. One of the clerks at the chambers emailed me a list of prices for various barristers at that chambers and they were all around the same price, give or take a few hundred for experience.

Is that price for a QC perhaps? I'd email a few chambers in the city nearest to the hearing and get some more quotes.
