Do we tell them we are going to small claims court?

Just that really.

Had some lovely plantation shutters fitted and the litany of fuck ups is as long as your arm.

They have now at our request come and removed them. They agreed to fix the 'cosmetic issues' but it was more than that. The work was shocking and now they have been taken out we can see even more issues.

The window recesses will need to be replastered. They have left a huge raw plug sticking out of the granites windowsill. Hacked a chunk of skirting board rather than scribing round it and to top it off they have drilled holes into the upvc window frames rather than the ceiling and windowsills which is the proper way of fitting them.

A surveyor was aghast at how shocking the work was and said it was more than cosmetic, they needed to be taken out, remade and fitted by someone who knew what the words straight and right angle meant.

So now we are left with having to replace the french doors and box bay, have window recessed replastered, new granite windowsill and certain bits of carpentry sorted.

We are still waiting for the refund of the balance of the money (£1000) but I would not be surprised if we never saw that too.

They even had the audacity to rock up an hour late today to remove everything.

So we were thinking of getting a quote for all of the work and making an application to the small claims court/.

My question is, do we tell them that we are thinking of doing this or just fill in all of the forms and wait for the court to contact them?

We have taken loads of photographs.

Part if me wants to put all of the pictures and story of what happened on Facebook hoping to completely destroy them. I am just so upset. The guy who measured, fitted and removed them couldn't give a shiny shit about the damage he has caused or the crap job he had done. It was like dealing with a petulant child.

Sorry to sound over dramatic but I love my home and the room that we spend all of our time in now is full of chipped paintwork, holes and fucking chunks out of the woodwork and walls.

GGGRRRRR!!!!!!!

You need to send a letter before action. Which? has a useful template here.

That's brilliant. Thank you. A great help.
