Is there a mortgage

LineRunner · 01/02/2015 22:20

I had to use a solicitor to do this. In fact the divorce solicitor delegated it to a conveyancing solicitor to do. Just the small change cost £545 if memory serves.

It's not a thing you want to get wrong. Pay the expert to do the job properly.

Thanks for your replies, yes there is a mortgage, will that make a difference?

You should definitely take legal advice IMO. Your xh may need to sign a deed transferring his share to you and the deed may need to be registered at the Land Registry. Agree with babybarrister about checking with mortgage provider.

I second pps that you should take legal advice especially as there is a mortgage You need to contact the mortgage provider to see if they will allow your ex off the mortgage I would ask that ? first Lenders are reluctant at present to let one borrower off the hook They need to be 100% satisfied the remaining party is a good risk

Thank you for the advice, I'll speak to the mortgage lender and take it from there, thanks again everyone
