Does anyone have any experience of this?
Im just wondering if the debtor is going to be given any further chances to gain back the goods seized before the go to sale?

If he pays the debt, yes. If not, probably not but it's a little difficult to say with such scant information.

Its a vehicle.
Owed 750, refused to pay, car seized 8 weeks ago, stated car was someone elses, given 7 days to produce docs, produced the incorrect ones, timescale passed.
Currently owed 3500 (including fees) car value 7000.

Blimey! These bills just go up and up. The only way to stop them is to pay. THEN you can have the argument about whether the bill is legit or not. Every delay - and that includes going to a law centre to get advice - makes it more and more likely that the car will be sold. And they will not get anything like its value on sale so you may find the debt survives.
If you can, get to a law centre or ring a debt advice line TODAY to see what can be done. But DO NOT DELAY!
I have to say, lying about the ownership of the car was really not a very good move but the damage is done now.
Good luck,
HP

It's not me Confused
I'm owed the money.Smile
I ask cause it's been dragging on so long and I can't understand why they seized the car, ten waited 8 weeks to allow 7 days to produce proof of ownership.
Fingers crossed car gets sold soon.
Wouldn't mind he's paid out more defending it that what he owed me!Wink

In that case, I would have thought the sale must be imminent and, given his deception, he deserves all that is coming to him! Can you ring them and ask when the sale is scheduled? There should be an answer, if only to tell you what appeal or application he has put in (if he has).
I seem to remember they have to give him seven days notice in writing of the sale. That is the last chance for him to pay.

HP
