Ex friend wants to claim money

18 months ago we totally renovated our bungalow.
We have a friend who builds houses , he gave us a lot of contacts, which we followed up and used. We contacted them and arranged work ourselves.
We have had a falling out and he has just sent us an invoice for project managing our work! Even if this remotely anywhere near the truth, we certainly have no contract.
He can be a bully, says he will see us in court

My husband said similar!
Shame it has come to this

I think, despite the stress, you will have to call his bluff and say fine, see you in court then - don't forget to bring your non-existent contract so it can be thrown out immediately.

Keep any emails or texts to a minimum and cool and polite. 'You have no contract with us. Please do not waste a court's time on this nonsense.'

I have been ranting all afternoon. My husband is calmer, he is drafting a short reply

Was the fall out over your build? Had you been asking his advice throughout the project? If he has no written contract with you and willingly offered/supplied you with details of his trusted craftsmen/trade contacts all he has done is made recommendations to you. Even if he got you discounts with them unless you had agreed he would organise your build and be paid as a project manager can't see he has a leg to stand on.

So I give a mate a list of contacts and later down the line I can claim money back for projecting managing??
Awesome. Better start claiming now.
Oh wait. We have no contract, verbal or written about me getting any financial gain.

Let him try to take you to court. I don't think he has any grounds. He can't retrospectively charge you!
