Anyone know about car insurance - other person refusing to speak to their insurers?

Basically, someone drove into my car while I was parked by the side of the road.

I was given their details (car reg, phone number, and was later given the name of their insurers by text). They have done everything they needed to do legally.

But they have not contacted their insurers. On the advice of my insurers I contacted an accident management company. They have contacted the other person by email. The other person has admitted the accident happened, but said it wasn't their fault, as they were driving a van and reversing, and you can't see out of the back of the van as it has no windows, so it's not their fault.

The problem now is they aren't speaking to their insurance company...they won't answer any calls or emails.

The accident management company seem to be very good, and tell me it will all be sorted eventually.

Anyone know what will happen next, and will it all take ages? The car is drive-able, but was in mint condition, and now isn't. Repair work will need to be done before the car is sold.

Yes, but mipmop, I haven't found it to be straightforward. Nothing straight forward about dealing with a company who won't communicate with you, and whose customer won't communicate with them.

Littlef00t, I shouldn't need an accident management company. But when everybody is being unhelpful but them I see now choice. The hire car will be like for like, DH makes sure his insurance covers like for like. DH needs a certain type of car for work, and a Maserati, no matter how much DH might enjoy driving it, wouldn't be the right vehicle. Wink

FesterAddams - the other parties insurance will go up anyway. I'm not out to make other people pay more money just out of spite, but I don't see why we should be out of pocket when we have done nothing wrong.
The other person is a good person, but has a tendency to stick their head in the sand. I would really like them to realise that ignoring something doesn't make it go away. (I know the person involved - they aren't a random stranger)

What I want is to know if anyone else has been through something similar, and how long it took, etc.
ZipZaps post was very helpful. Smile

My last post was in answer to the one directly above, which said:
I would be very surprised if the other party's insurer will deal with you directly.

I know you've already said why it's not happening in your case (the insurer hasn't accepted responsibility yet as their customer is refusing to cooperate). I was just correcting the false assumptions others are posting which suggest it's never possible.

Anyway as I said previously, I can appreciate it's frustrating, and hopefully the accident management company will make it a smooth process , it's really the whole point of using one.
