The original thread is on AIBU, but kind mums-netters suggested I enter it here also. Long story short I have for the last year been sexually abused at work, a man has made my life a misery. Hitting, nipping, slapping and kicking me on the way past.

Making often sick comments about my kids, about my age, my appearance, my body, just nasty vile comments. I left after he kept sending me in the stock room which has no cameras and then attempted to undo my bra strap through my t shirt. I walked out and told my husband everything. He was brilliant, he told them they had twenty four hours to come back to us with a reasonable response. His mum and dad who own the business, came to my home, with a letter of apology which is basically a signed confession of the surface of what he has done.

His mum said they don't want me back and they posted my P -forty five within days, so they haven't even tried to deal with it. He is still working with other young girls, I feel he will eventually hurt someone and to be honest he has hurt me and my family.

Thanks in Advance for your help x

You sound like you have a v good case. Check your home insurance policy for legal cover. IIRC unfair dismissal with sex discrimination/harassment does not have an upper limit for compensation.
You need to make the right kind of claim though, so must get some proper legal advice.

Jumblebee · 20/07/2014 16:22

Your PIL don't want YOU back?! Why are they not firing HIM?! Confused

Jumblebee · 20/07/2014 16:24

Or have I misunderstood and it's the creeps parents who own the business, not your DP parents?

Dfg15 · 20/07/2014 16:26

Don't think she meant they are her Pil surely she means the parents of the abusive man

recepticlefortherespectable · 20/07/2014 17:11

Hi thank you all, I really appreciate your help
yes it they are his parents, I don't have home insurance :(
I can't afford a solicitor either, thinking Police and ACAS or
maybe free 30 min consultation..
not looking to get awarded money as such, just loss of wages
because I have none at the moment through no fault of my own IYSWIM
More the case I want to stop him doing it again, he might go too far
with somone younger who is not as strong as me
It is my word against his, but i do have the letter...
anymore advice greatly received thanks..

Try CAB immediately, they often have employment law specialists

also try bar pro bono unit

where in the country are you? the Mary Ward legal Centre is excellent in London

Please don't feel that you have to limit your claim to loss of wages; this behaviour affects confidence, and as you say, there is nothing to stop him just carrying on.

GalaxyInMyPants · 20/07/2014 17:29

How long had you worked there?

Not sure if its right but doesn't length of service affect if you can take them to a tribunal for unfair dismissal? Or does sexual harassment, discrimination counteract that?

Spherical · 20/07/2014 17:34

You don't need any qualifying service to bring a claim for sex discrimination.

Johnogroats · 20/07/2014 17:36

Galaxy you are correct. 2 years qualifying period for unfair dismissal, but zero time limits on a sexual harassment claim.

Some solicitors may be willing to take on your case on a no win no fee basis. Seriously, think about it.

AMessageToYouRudie · 30/07/2014 17:01

Hi All
Just wanted to give you an update, sorry its been so long
Just rang 101 and they were great, they cannot do much though short
of actually making a formal compliant, so I might have a n half an hour free consultation and see if anyone wants to take it on no win no fee because even the police man just said there is a case to be answered if what I am alleging is true[which it is].
Will continue to update with progress thanks to all for all your support x
