Will made before children - do children change it automatically?

Hoping for some help here...

My OH made a will 10+ years ago - way before we were married, and it leaves everything to his mum and siblings.

We are now married with a child, so I assume baby and I would take precedence over the instructions in this will??

Am I right?

Thanks.

Its getting married that invalidates it, not having a child. You both need to get new wills made - try Mumblechum who advertises on here

Thanks CMOT - so getting married invalidates a will!? Wow, I did not know that.

Any ideas how I contact Mumblechum???! Thanks!

She has a thread on Small Business Ads but if you say her name five times, she will hear you... Grin

BTW even if you hadn't married your assumption would be false!

Grin NotnowI'mreading; does that make me Beetlejuice?

OP, not sure whether you are one of the people who's already contacted me over the last couple of days but in any case, your husband's will was automatically revoked when he married you.

It may still be a good idea to make wills, though, as if your husband's estate is worth more than £250k, you won't automatically inherit all of it. You may also wish to consider appointing a guardian to care for your children in the very unlikely event that you both died before they were 18.
