Personal injury claim possibly being made against us - all advice welcome!

Background: DH and several friends from around the globe who used to meet after school for a football kick about got together for a reunion two weeks ago. They tried to relive their youth and took part in a football match. There was no referee and there were 8 players in total.

During the match, my DH tackled another player from the side who then fell in such a way that his ankle was broken.
Part way through the match, myself and our lovely DCs left as it started to rain. My DH put on his studs as he was slipping and sliding everywhere. Injured player is trying to say that my DH put his studs on with the intent of causing him injury. This player is now threatening to seek legal advice on his return to his home country. What happens next? Do you think he could make a claim against us? Would we possibly be covered for this on our house insurance? Help!

FYI:
The injured player had an operation and has been living at his mums for the last two weeks as he was unable to fly home. He is flying home on Sunday evening.

Four of the other players agree with DHs version of events but the injured player is saying that DH did a two footed tackle from behind (I have no idea what this means). Injured players DF supports his sons version of events.

DH has been banned from playing football!!!!

you may well have legal expenses cover on your house insurance.

BUT the other chap presumably has travel insurance. Why not claim on that for an injury (which is a fact) rather than starting legal proceedings?
