Car Accident - Bad Feeling!

Quick one I hope - had an accident last week, hit someone up the arse at a roundabout, nobody hurt which is the good part. My fault in law I know.

I asked the other driver if she could get a quote for the slight damage to her car and it's come in at over our insurance excess so have to deal with insurance instead. However, she forwarded me the quote from the car repair place and it's got her reg number on it but someone else's name. I asked her if it was her car today via email and she refused to answer, and won't give me her address either, saying that her insurer didn't need mine so why did I need hers.

I contacted my insurer today who did need her address but something just doesn't feel right. Anyone have any ideas? Why would someone refuse to confirm whether the car they were driving was theirs or not?

Maybe she's not actually insured to drive it and she was borrowing it?

MrsMaturin · 29/04/2014 16:37

Because she wasn't insured to drive it of course. Have you told your insurers the name is wrong?

Betrayedbutsurvived · 29/04/2014 16:37

Just leave it for your insurer to sort out. If theresxanything dodgy going on, they will find out.

MrsMaturin · 29/04/2014 16:37

Oh and when we had a small bump and the guy driving the car was really arsey about it we deduced it was similar - in his case he was obviously using a vehicle for business use that was only insured for private.

I thought the same, my spidey senses were tingling today!

Did explain to the insurers about the name, I am sure they'll sort it out.

...or she hasn't told the owner she was driving...

anyway, not your problem. You are insured and will have enough hassle. Just tell your insurer what is going on and ask them to deal with it. Don't contact her directly again and refer any contact from her to your insurers.
