Right to Manage, 5 flats

Hello, Has anyone ever gone through the Right to Manage by taking over the management of a freehold from the freeholders? (who have outsourced the management and charging us an arm and leg for nothing!) We are 5 flats all in favour of doing this.

Is it worth going through lawyers to do this? if so what are the costs? right now we are looking at about £4k + VAT excluding any additional issues that may arise.

Enfranchisement is currently out of the question.

Any advise, experiences appreciated, thank you.

Yes and yes. It is also relatively simple to do. I ran the new management company, block of 12 flats.

Get together with the other flat owners, chat to a solicitor, I was friendly with an estate/lettings agent who helped me out a bit.

It isn't difficult or onerous to do yourself.

We did the same thing in our block last year and we used these guys. Ask for Tony www.cavendish-devere.com
