Fencing my front garden

I want to use my front garden as it gets more sun, my deeds say i can't fence/hedge it. however next door have fences along there border and installed a gate. the other side of my garden is fenced (wire) by the coucil who orginally owned it - could i put something like that willow panels stuff inside the fence to give me privacy when using the garden?

What about the rest if the street? Honestly? I'd just fence it. Those covenants are always broken. We did it ourselves. Actually almost all the street did on houses approx a year old.

The house with a fenced garden is risking having to take it down if the council decides to act on the "no fence" clause in the deeds (assuming they have similar terms and conditions to you).

Have you asked your neighbours whether they have planning permission for their fence, or whether they just chanced it when it was erected?

The deeds on the houses around here state that the half-length walls must be finished with fencing not fully walled. Loads have fully-walled gardens. The deeds also state that nobody can run a business from the property and specifically states 'no cinema' can be run from the properties...

Old man Crichton who used to own the land put these stipulations on when he sold it to developers in the 70s. They are clearly nonsense. I'd fence your garden.

Do it, theyd have to ask everyone to take their fences down for no reason - they won't but worst case is they will.

Maybe have a quick word with those who have fenced and see if they just did it? If they did it go ahead and do it too.. But I wouldn't spend a fortune incase they make you take it down!!

Don't covenants such as these usually expire after a certain time frame? The one over our area has just expired (15 years) and there's been a frenzy of fence and shed building going on.

Our estate is the same. Open plan supposedly but most people have walled or fenced off! The fence onto a road can only be a certain height I think I've read somewhere. People here have monster hedges for privacy.
