Posted in chat too as meeting is tomorrow and needed quick advice.
Mumsnetters there suggested I post in legal too.
So.........
Colleague was given letter on Thursday.
2nd meeting tomorrow.
She is still in shock.
Has asked me to go with her as is allowed a colleague or union rep and no unions in our company
I will take notes.
Assume that is all I can do and then talk with her later.
Multinational company but no guidance on website.
Any advice much appreciated

Thanks

You are just there to support your colleague. That means making notes and acting as a memory / support. If there are questions your colleague wants to ask, or points they want to make then you can also keep a list and act as a prompt.

Meeting is confidential so don't be offended if you're reminded of that.

Nothing else, no need to prepare.

You could help her prepare beforehand:

What she wants to get out of the meeting
A list of questions she will ask

Thanks Over and Any. Appreciate the advice

Does she suspect ulterior motives for getting rid or does all seem in order?

If it's the former, I'd get external advice and postpone today's meeting.

If it's the latter, she needs to negotiate maximum redundancy payment plus payment in lieu of notice plus reference.

How long has she been there and what reason has been given for the redundancy?
