Are agency workers entitled to statutory sick pay?

Hello

I'm a supply teacher on a years booking.

Was very ill last week, Dr signed me off for a week (I took 4 days).

I'm not entitled to sick pay but Dr says I should still be entitled to STATUTORY sick pay so she signed a sick certificate.

Agency said they were unsure and would "get back to me".
The gov website states that "agency workers are entitled to statutory sick pay"

I will chase them up tomorrow but anyone know where I stand on this?
Have a feeling they will be trying to get out of it!

The law makes no distinction between temporary or permanent staff and you are entitled to the same conditions and benefits - If you have worked for 12 consecutive weeks you are entitled to SSP - Look at acas.org.uk - your agency should know this!

They can be a bit sneaky about things and thought they were avoiding it!

you are not paid for the first 3 days you are off though so would only get back one days pay.

Okay yeah I see, I thought it meant you don't get paid at all if it's 3 days.
Do you know what the daily rate is? There's only a weekly pay? (Unless it's literally that divided by 5!)

1 day is better than no pay :-)
