Have you been in touch with your insurance company? I had a similar-ish situation and they investigated and concluded that I was the one telling the truth.

In my situation, a guy ran into the back of me at a roundabout. Initially he wanted to sort it out without involving insurance, but he stopped responding. So I contacted my insurance, when they tracked him down through a sister insurance company he denied he'd been involved...then changed his story and said I'd rolled back into him. The insurance company looked at the road - there was a slope and it would've been impossible for me to roll into him so they held him wholly responsible. Maybe your insurance company can work out from the damage to both cars who hit who?

A detailed statement is your friend. You need to describe what you saw, how it happened, where his car hit yours, the damage both sustained and what you did afterwards. Even if you didn't see him hit your car but saw him try and drive away, the detail you can provide particularly where his car is damaged, then it all adds up to proving your claim. If he can't prove someone else hit him (and how could he?) then it comes down to what the evidence (damage to both cars) supports. An engineer can inspect both cars and determine if the damage to both is consistent with what you say or what he falsley claims.
