Child protection and phycological assessment

There was an initial child protection meeting where my children were put on protection plans, one of the steps is for me and their separated dad to have phycological assessments and I would like to know more about these and what they show etc?

He is very controlling in nature, there has been dv but I'm being questioned on how acurate my accounts are and they think maybe its not as bad I'm saying, I have had black eyes, my car window smashed and my rabbits being killed so they do believe me but I think I'm being doubted on some of what I have said.

How can these tests work? Obviously only me and him know the truth about what happend?

Sorry you are going through such a difficult time a couple of questions...

did you go to the police when he did something wrong? Do you have pictures?

A psychological assessment will be carried out by someone who is very good at understanding people, their emotions and how they react. They will know if he is lying and in turn if you are lying.

When my counsellor first met me she knew my emotions immediately. They are trained to know the signs.

your best bet is to stick to the facts and only the facts, you may get yourself in a pickle if you don't for example..

you say 'I think he killed the rabbits'

they will say your paranoid.

so you say.. he killed the rabbits, I went to the police and have this proof it was him.

Also,

if you have proof of everything then no doubt they will 100% believe you, and they will be going through the motions to ensure the safety of the children. They will need to make sure that you're mentally capable of caring for and protecting them

Thanks I understand it a bit more now, so its an interview.

I reported some things to the police not all, I have pictures and professionals have seen them.

tinyturtletim - love your optimism and glad you have had a good experience of the system but if 'they will know he's lying' - why the hell do we bother with jury's and investigation's, why are their miscarriages of justice etc.

Psychologists do not have magical insight but are generally well trained - do stick to the facts and do make sure you have as much physical proof as possible but be aware the system is not perfect !
