My friend is going through a divorce and contact arrangements. Only at the sstart at the nmoment. During her initial visit with her solicitor she told him some of the things that went on i their relationship. Mostly EA and gaslighting. There was an incident where he threatened to hit her with a heavy piece of kitchen equipment. I am unsure what's happened since that visit, I' assuming her solicitor told his and she's told him. Today she is upset because she's had a letter from the solicitor saying she needs to refrain from making false alegations!

I am very cross on her behalf and asked for permission to post here. I've told her to reply with three points, firstly that it is not false, secondly he is spreading around that her friend threatened him with martial arts and thiirdly that a solicitor taking on DV cases should not be calling his client a liar! She is in court for the first time in days and it sounds like certain people are planning on causing a scene which has her stressed out and we've had to explain to her what it means to be in court to try and reassure her and I'll be there to hold her hand whilst she waits. Obviiously this is making things worse for her as she feels she can't even confide in her solicitor.

I'm a bit confused as to what has happened here.

His solicitor is writing to her directly? Does he know she has instructed a solicitor? If so, it is a breach of his professional rules to write directly to her.

His solicitor will be taking instructions from her ex as to whether things are true or not. The solicitor will have no way of knowing for himself. Your friend just needs to stick to her guns and tell her solicitor the truth.
