Help, I selected my old postal address

Can anyone help. I ordered two cd's on play.com on Wednesday and after updating the account with my bank details and postal address the confirmation of order screen said my old address. I immediately clicked on a link to contact the seller and asked them to send to my correct address. I didn't receive a response so I then emailed play.com. Still no response. That evening I got an email saying my item had been despatched, so I clicked a link in the email to contact the seller again and said this was the wrong address. On Thursday I get an email to say part two of my order has been dispatched to the old address. So I emailed again. Today I got an email from them saying sorry the item has been sent and we can not change an address due to privacy terms and conditions.

I am not in a position to go to my old address to try and get the parcels. I am not anticipating the people living at that address sending the items back to be honest.

Where do I stand with this, is there anything I can do?

Have you notified your bank of your change of address?

I don't live in the UK, and my UK bank would consider it fraud if I used another address in the UK for my credit and debit cards.

Yes bank and everything was already amended 3 years ago when I moved, it was just my postal address on play.com as I had registered an account with them about 10 years ago. I've emailed citizens advice to see what they say. As far as I'm concerned yes I made a mistake but I notified the seller immediately, they could have cancelled my order if they were unable to change the delivery address but they didn't respond until after they had posted the items.

You need to wait and see if they accept delivery of the items. If they don't then they will be returned to play, and there is no further problem - you can just reorder.

If they accept delivery then they are committing fraud. Play need to send someone to collect the items, and to send a debt recovery letter.

We had exactly the same situation recently - with a different company - and someone at the address apparently accepted the delivery of our £200 solid state hard drive (according to the delivery driver) even though the house was empty, and the current owner and all the neighbours knew nothing about it... After the letter was sent it amazingly reappeared!

Thanks for advice, fingers crossed they don't accept delivery of the items.
