Creative financial solution to marriage

My partner and I been together for 6 years and would like to marry one day. I've been reluctant for a long time because dh is frivolous with money and he has significant debts in his name. We manage fine day to day but our finances are separate. Hes not paid his debt off as long as i have known him, they accrued before we met. I am opposite and have no debt issues. We both work full time and I own a house in my name which I would like to protect for our dcs.

Dh has just been offered a job promotion in the US but on the visa he is being offered (O1 visa), I won't be able to come with him and remain in the Us unless I marry him.

Will marrying in the US provide me any legal protection for my savings and assets? Would a prenuptial agreement be recognised? I believe in the UK prenups are not.

If we married in the UK, would a declaration of Trust be valid? I know for unmarried cohabitees, such declaration of trust for tenants in common (for house) would offer me protection.

Ultimately, I want to protect my house which I have worked so hard for is protected and ensure it never is sold to cash or pay my partners debt in the event of a divorce. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a view on prenups in the UK? Are they worth more than the paper they are printed on? I always thought they were not legally enforceable. Thanks.

Don't get married. Hope his American job is not too long as it's the ultimate consumer society lol

Can't your DH sign a deed of trust?
