Leg to stand on?

A year ago a paid a £500 deposit on a nursery place that we no longer need. I've given them 10 month's notice, so I think them keeping all the money is really unreasonable. Do I have a leg to stand on?Hmm

What does the contract say about notice?

AugustaCarp · 26/11/2013 20:18

I don't actually have a copy of the contract, and I don't really remember signing anything...(I know, I know, but in my defence I was pregnant and a bit bonkers!)

I think it will depend on what their terms and conditions were at the time. Ask them to produce a copy of the contract you signed.

AugustaCarp · 26/11/2013 20:37

I will do. Can they just say no, though?

They may do but I would speak to CAB to see what they advise.

AugustaCarp · 26/11/2013 21:29

CAB's a really good idea - hadn't thought of that!

It's a contractual matter - you really need to see what you signed.

If they can't produce something, you would need to convince a court that when you handed over the deposit you were not agreeing that it would be kept if you didn't need the place.

I won! They've agreed to give it back GrinGrinGrinGrin
