To think that a weekend break in Europe with 3mo would be manageable without a buggy?

Am potentially going to be visiting people in Sweden before Xmas but am not certain that taking our buggy on the plane will be manageable - I will be doing the journey alone with my DD who will be 3 months old, and when there we'll be staying in a hotel. We have a Baby Björn which she likes going in - am I mad to even think of doing the journey and trip with just the Baby Björn and no buggy??? (and whilst we're at it, would you mind me asking 'Am I mad to even consider such a trip at all?!' and 'Are pop-up travel cots any good in your experience?') Thanks :-)

I wouldn't. It will be freezing and baby's arms and legs unprotected.

I have travelled with a 3 mo plus 2 yo on a train and plane alone. I took a wheels bag and a pushchair...it was fine. Good luck.

I think you're mad. Unless it's a very odd airline you can take the buggy right up to the plane, carry baby on then get it from the carousel. I go all over and do all sorts with DS and you'd have to prise the buggy from my cold dead hands! It's transport, a bed, a highchair...

We took DD to Barcelona aged 11 weeks using nothing but a Baby Bjorn. It was fine. She slept, woke and flapped happily in it.

If you are worried about cold arms and legs, just make sure your coat can do up over her as well as you.

Take the buggy..I went to Dublin with a 3 mth old on my own and when it came to folding up the buggy for the plane I just got a nice looking lady to hold the baby for me..you will be fine!

Are you going to be eating out in restaurants? PITA with a sling IME.

runningmad · 04/11/2013 16:48

Do you do without a buggy now? I wouldn't dream of taking a buggy, simply because I never used one until the kids were several months old, they were slinged. Whereas if I used a buggy all the time, i think I'd find it hard to suddenly change.

I wouldn't worry about baby getting cold, look at what Swedish babies wear in Winter. Ask on a Swedish expat forum?

I would take just a sling, but not the baby bjorn as will kill back

Get a ' bug in a rug' it's like a blanket with feet you wrap around them.

If it snows a buggy will be pointless anyway unless it had large wheels as wont fit through snow

I have flown many times and eaten in restaurants with baby in sling fine

YANBU, but get yourself a moby rather than a BB waaaaay more comfy and cosy and warm.
Baby will be much warmer in a moby next to your body heat than in a buggy.
I'm on DD3 and haven't ever used a buggy till lo is well over a year.
