Hi, asking on behalf of a friend. The ex lives and works in the uk but has an American employer who pays his wage into a uk bank account. He will not agree child support, is there any way to enforce it through a court?
Thank you

The CSA will enforce the maintenance. When you say the employer is americain, do you mean they have no UK address?

Thanks for your reply.

Turns out it might be Swiss based company and he works on rigs which are all over. He's paid in dollars and bank exchanges it. She thinks he is supposed to pay uk tax on it.

Does any of this help?
Thank you

Is it CSA or court maintenance?

Which ever route is best and she is able to do. she didn't think she could go to csa with him working for a foreign employer, I told her to give them a call and check.

Sorry - didn't re read the OP in my earlier post.

She'll have to go through the court if he's resident abroad. If he's resident here, it's the CSA.

So the fact that he does not have a uk employer is irrelevant and the csa can still act?
Thank you again for replying

babyB the CSA don't necessarily assume the same domicile as for tax. They look at the whole picture, including whether and where he owns property, where his bank account is, etc. If he spend his shore time in the UK then that would seal it for me.

As far as I'm aware he owns property in the uk and spends his time there and contact with his child is spent there. Uk bank account too.
