Ex s girl friend abusive and threatening

So last evening when collecting my children after seeing their dad girlfriend is at drop off.I try to have conversation with ex about plans for children and holidays she keeps butting in (I never speak to her) I become exasperated and walk back to the car she yells fat bitch after me.i then go to service part to fill up with the children when they start screaming.Icant quite make out what they are saying over the petrol pump it turns out they are screaming and crying ....... Is coming she is going to shout at you she's going to hurt you.She must hear this and turns back.I should point out she has come pelting over pushing an unnecessary trolley she has left baby with my ex in one of those baby ones.Any way she's so angry she hurls the trolley causing it to tip over. Then abandons it and goes into shop. She has been verbally abusive to me over the phone which is why I insist on meeting in public although strictly speaking she has no need to be at drop offs pick ups.Over the summer she was so verbally abusive to ex that I had to collect the children early as they were so traumatised.Ive reported to non urgent police line and had an initial appointment at the solicitors but actual appointment not until next Tuesday as that's the soonest I can see family law specialist. In the mean time what can I do to protect myself and my children I've always had informal arrangement with ex but increasingly he is unable to recognise that his girl friends behaviour is unacceptable and damaging.I hate being in this situation I feel so threatened as an adult I can't begin to imagine how the children must feel.Any legal or other wise advice great fully received.

Why is she so angry with you? What made her shout at you and call you a fat bitch?

RandomMess · 26/09/2013 21:33

Is your ex due to have the children before Tuesday?

sandiy · 26/09/2013 21:42

Honestly I don t know why she is so angry I have never spoken to her.I don't particularly speak about her with the children. She is ow but that is not a massive issue,I wonder if my refusal to get into any conversation does it,but I'm not sure that there is any need as I say this is the first time she's been at drop off there was no need I think she was spoiling for a fight. She is very young. the children are due contact on Tuesday.so I don t know what to do.I really hate my children being involved in this they just don t need it.

I would call the police next time, I really, really would. Especially as she came towards you like that. She's threatening you in front of your dc.

Onesleeptillwembley · 26/09/2013 21:48

Do you actually ignore her? Is that what sets her off?

RandomMess · 26/09/2013 21:53

I would get your legal advice and see what they say.

sandiy · 26/09/2013 21:56

I do completely ignore her but,As a rule any one who calls me the c word (from the last verbal abuse episode) is going to be ignored by me.What bothers me is that ex just stood by and let it happen I don t care for my sake but for the children's sake I'm concerned. For the record I'm not that fat either size 10-12.I think she just wants to goad me.Whats worse is I work in safeguarding children so this is not great for my career either. If she does physically attack me I could lose my job.Hence the police this time.

I'm not judging you by any means, but if you're just blanking her they could turn it onto you. Be careful. And getting the police involved is the right thing to do.

Mabelface · 26/09/2013 23:53

I would contact your ex and state that he could only have contact if she's not there as you don't feel that your children are safe around her. if he won't agree to this, then you stop contact and carry on via legal channels.
