Company law - Barristers opinion

I need to get a barristers opinion on a case I intend to bring against my ex. We were not married, cohabited for 20 years & ran a company together. Unfortunately I was not listed as a shareholder (too trusting in hindsight!) so I have to prove a beneficial interest in the company as I don't have a legal one. I have referred to case law Geary v Rankine and need to employ a barrister to see if my argument is strong enough. I'm not sure where to start in finding someone to take a look at it so any advice would be greatfully received.

Many thanks

Well, you can either go through a firm of solicitors who will talk to you about your options and if counsel's opinion is definitely necessary (it may not be if you get a good solicitor), then they can appoint one on your behalf and write the brief.

You can, however, approach counsels chambers direct. What area of the country are you in? There's a directory called Chambers which sets out all practicing barrister's details including their call year (ie how experienced they are), and specialism.

Often the clerk in the chambers will be able to point you in the right direction.

Not all barristers' chambers accept direct access from the public - some still require you to access them via a solicitor. The Bar Council has a Directory that lists the barristers accepting direct public access.
