Rapists and accusers anomynity?

In light of the Coronation street actor's court case, shouldn't the accused's identity be anomynous. He has now been proved not guilty, but his name now has mudon it. Craig Charles went through a similar situation a few years ago and was proved !notmguilty of raping a woman. Also, if the accused name is revealed, why isn't the accuser, unless it is a child?

There is no such thing as an accuser in our justice system. The CPS chooses who to prosecute and, in rape cases, the victim is called as a witness for the prosecution.

There are other types of case where witnesses have anonymity, for personal safety for example.

Finally, do you believe in anonymity for those in court for all crimes (burglary, assault, murder etc) or just rape?

The above was a knee jerk post in light of the recent case. Sometimes it seems a little unfair that an 'innocent'. (Ie. not guilty) person's name and reputation can be sullied through no fault of their own.

Apologies for misuse of terms above - didn,t quite know how to describe the various people in the situation.

Unfortunately mud sticks. I don't know how it can be avoided though.
