No turning signs

What's the legal position on 'No turning' signs in driveways, communal flat car parks or private roads? A new one has sprung up near me. I have no need to turn in it (that I can think of!) but I wondered what the legal position was? What might be the repercussions and how would they be enforced?

I can't swear to it, but I think it would come under trespassing law, which is civil law. This would mean that the landowner could sue the trespasser for any loss they incur as a result of the trespass. If they can't prove any loss then there's nothing they can do.

Someone cleverer will no doubt correct me if that's rubbish.

That sounds like a good call. So how could they ever prove a loss when someone's just turning round in the driveway/road? Do they just assume the signs will put people off?

Maybe if you run over their chickens. :o
