Agreeing finances through offers

My ex has just made me a second offer to sort out the finances.

I can't accept the offer, i just can't afford to pay for what he is suggesting i do, (his solicitor nicely suggests i can afford to do without the need to economise!).

If i don't accept this offer, he is saying yet again he will file papers with the court.

I'm seeing my solicitor later this week to discuss my next options (i can't re mortgage not much equity and don't earn a lot, and i've tried to rent but got turned down on my credit rating which is bad). My only option is the family home, but my ex doesn't want to pay the massive mortgage.

Does anyone have any experience of how long this stage can last? I'm worrying my ex will file court papers now hes made two offers (although i think hes only made the most recent one, so he can tell his mum that its me whose refused his offer however unreasonable so it can be my fault ).
Just worrying myself silly about where this is going.

In my local county court it would take 7-8 months from date of issue before you get to a final hearing, but most cases settle before then at the FDR hearing. You're looking at around 6 months to the FDR hearing (10 weeks from issue to the First Appointment, then 8 weeks to the FDR (could be more if you need, say, a pensions report) then 8 weeks thereafter for a final hearing.

The majority of cases settle before or at the FDR.
