Friend is making a claim against local Nhs trust.
Has received a letter to see an independent surgeon approx 2 hours away.

Anyone know why she wouldnt be able to see someone closer to home?

Thanks.

Presumably most surgeons closer to home would work for the trust she is suing, so there would be a conflict of interest.

Who has suggested that surgeon to her? Her solicitor?

ChestyNut · 29/07/2013 15:31

Yes her solicitor.

I wondered if that was it euro

A mutual friend is going through same thing and has to see same speciality surgeon in their home town tho?

It isn't just a case of ringing up another hospital and booking an appointment with an appropriate specialist. Your friend needs:

  • someone independent
  • someone willing to act as an expert witness
  • someone willing and able to take on her case

It may also be that her solicitor has previous experience with this particular specialist.

Thanks.

She's also worried that the incident happened 2years ago and injury is mostly recovered. Just occasional pain.

And thinks she's wasting his time going to the appointment.

She knows she has to as requested by solicitor.

Ill pass on your thoughts Thanks
