solicitor/own client costs assessment

My good friend has launched an assessment against her former solicitors, and she's got a well known firm of costs lawyers acting for her. However, they aren't always great at keeping her informed about the procedure.

Can anyone tell me whether she should prepare a witness statement, and how much detail to go into?

Points of dispute have been done, and they seem pretty comprehensive to me. But there are some disputed facts, such as whether a settlement offer was made to my friend, and about the quality of service she got from the firm. What happens if there are disputed matters of evidence like this?

Alternatively, is there any other lawyers forum where I could go and make a sneaky post for info? (I am not in any relevant professional body).

I've never heard of statements being prepared for one if these hearings. If they're costs specialists, wouldn't they know?

Thanks Collaborate. You would think they would know, wouldn't you?

The firm is very well-known; you may even have used them yourself. The Points of Dispute are very good. But I guess the firm don't often deal directly with lay clients, and they have not been good at telling my friend what she ought to do, or answering her questions.
