Hello

My ex and I (unmarried) have been referred to a FDR.

I am a litigant in person and need to know how the questionnaire should be set out. Can I ask for documents on it? (ie. self assessed tax returns, mortgage applications etc) Should I literally pull his form E apart with a list of questions as it is like reading a fairy tale?!! I believe I also have to list a chronology of the events leading up to the FDR? I haven't been able to locate an example of one on the internet to go by.

Any advice would be most welcome.

What kind of proceedings are they if you are unmarried?

tolata and schedule 1

You need to ask the questions as you say in your first post. Keep them relevant to the issues, and proportionate.
The chronology should be on 1 side of A4 and start with your dates of birth, then significant milestones thereafter.

So there's not a form that should be used?

Many thanks for your replies.

There's no prescribed form.

Sorry...more questions! You say the chronology should be on 1 side of an A4 sheet....mine will probably fill a book! How deep shall i go?!!!
Our Tolata and Schedule 1 apps have been replaced with the FDR but there's obviously a lot of history as to how we got here... I'm worried about missing something off that's relevant - I'm assuming the judge will just look at the questionnaire & the chronology (and not the defence/skeleton arguments) so shouldn't it be done in detail?

Thanks again!

The chronology is just for the main events, to put the case into a context. It is not the place to put your detailed narrative of what happened between you.

it might include, for example; your respective dates of birth; when you met; when you started to cohabit; when your DC were born; when you purchased properties (before or after you met).; when one of you left the main home (if that happened); when the applications to court were made.

there is absolutely no need whatsoever to include each twist and turn of your lives, particularly not in the chronology.

the judge will look at the skeleton arguments, the application and the defence before the FDR.
s/e probably won't look at any of the documents in support such as the bank statements etc.
