Hi, I think I'm going to split with husband. I have a few kids so trying to sort out what I'd be financially entitled to. We have been married just over four years and my husband inherited a property which has remained in his name (I have lived in it) before we married. We are living in Scotland. Can i get a claim on this. Not interested in the money really but also know I'll need every penny I can get to give my kids a half decent up bringing! Also we jointly own a couple of properties in negative equity that are rented out. The income on those after the interest only mortgage has been paid is about £5k a month. Assuming we split income 50/50 meaning income would be £2500 and earn an additional £7k self employed and £15k employed so £24500 would I be entitled to tax credits? How does self employed income work for tax credits. Are their anything else I can get?, I do plan to hopefully buy family home and continue rent negative equity properties. Many thanks for help. My kids are the most important thing in the world to me and as such I need to know where I'm at with everything and whether splitting is a possibility or whether I have to stay with someone I hate until they're adults!
