Will this be on my CRB?

Couple of months ago I was in an accident- not my fault. Other driver drove away but did report to police (although lying about it) I didn't realise I has to go to the police and pleaded guilty to 'failure to report an accident' .

I'm applying for a job in childcare- will this be on it? I'm so worried.

If you pleaded guilty and were sentenced, then yes, it will be on your CRB, as you will have a criminal record. However, it may be seen as a driving offence, and most employers use their discretion in these cases. I know that I always have - if there is no injury involved, then I would normally still employ.

No, it will become "spent" after 5 years, unless you were given an absolute discharge which is just 6 months. It's best to be upfront when they ask you if you have any convictions so that they have the detail before they get your CRB Disclosure through. They can then give you a realistic idea of whether or not it is likely to impact your chances of securing a role with them.

Dont lose heart kindlegeek. I have known Drs to have similar on their CRBs and still be employed. Be honest at the outset, thats allI'd say.

I'm afraid TattyCatty is wrong. CRB disclosures include spent convictions so your conviction will appear on your CRB forever. However it is unlikely to bar you from a childcare or teaching job as it isn't relevant.

Ahhhh, I've been googling 'will I get a teaching job ect ' it seems like my only hope is to write a little statement about it, hoping they will employ me. I'm feeling like its one thing after the other.

The DBS is changing things though isn't it, so only relevant incidents show up?

Always best to be honest though. Most employers wouldn't mind this sort of thing.

Currently no, the DBS is not changing the contents of a disclosure. Everything shows up. It is for the employer to judge whether or not a particular incident is relevant.

Prh47bridge - you are correct, as the spent conviction will show up on an Enhanced Disclosure. Apologies - I've recruited using both basic and enhanced and was posting in haste!
