Speeding ticket but two different offences?? Is it a mistake?

Have been caught on a mobile camera on motorway doing 85. The initial NIP said contrary to s17(4) rtra but the one on line says contrary to s81(2) rtra.

I've looked at the legislation the first one relates to a 'special' road whatever that is. The second relates to a restricted road - which I can glean is a road with lamp posts no more than 200 yards apart - this is for roads with a 30mph limit. Am confused. Any lawyers about. All other details are exactly the same

inconsistency between notices is exactly the sort of thing that Nick Freeman would be rubbing his hands in glee over.

For a first offence and if you are (and plead) guilty you are likely to get a modest fine & points. Probably will be a fixed penalty notice. If there are other circumstances this could change things. If you are guilty why not admit it and put it behind you? You can spend lots of money on lawyers who will argue over trivia and are less successful in the end than they will have you believe.
