Reapplying for job on maternity leave

I've just received a promotion along with several of my colleagues during a restructuring exercise at work which we had to sit interviews for.

Prior to signing our contracts we've been told that due to an efficiencies exercise we will all be required to interview again for our jobs in the near future and the candidates who are unsuccessful will be made 'surplus'as there are now too many people for the positions now available. If there are no vacancies in other offices we will be made redundant. Problem is I've just found out that I'm pregnant. I'm worried firstly that I will be unable to undertake all of the additional training everyone will be receiving (this is likely because of the job I do) and that it is likely the interviews will be whilst I am on maternity leave. This means that I may not be able to attend preparation sessions for the interview and that I'm going to be in the position of having a newborn i.e exhausted and not in the right 'mindset' for a complex interview

Has anybody got any advice? I've wanted this promotion for a long time but feel that its too risky to sign my new contract because of the position I'm in

Well I know that you are entitled to the same or similar position when coming back to work after the maternity leave. If you are thinking about attending some training you can always ask your other half to take care of the baby for most of the night with burping (in my case it takes up to 30 mins every time) or even with the bottle so you wouldn't have to wake up for feeding. Not the whole night though. If you plan to breastfeed you need to stimulate breasts so you keep producing milk and if you are producing nice amount, you need to empty your boobs so you wouldn't get engorged (too much milk - it hurts!).I have 3mo and study so that's what I do before my exams or when I need time to do assignments. I suppose everything is a matter of communication and compromise. But still, after giving birth, you will fing yourself sometimes forgetful and easily distracted. So even if I have that "me" time am thinking if my ds is ok/hungry/need to cuddle etc.
It is hard work but if you focus on the goal you should be just fine Smile
