Need some insurance advice for FIL who was car-jacked

My FIL is a builder, he has business insurance on his car, was on the way to work the other day, stopped at the shop and as he went to close his door to get back in was pulled out, had his face fractured and his car stolen. In his car was all his tools because he was on his way to work.

Insurance came out to see them, have taken the log book and the spare keys so quite happy to cover the car but they said that the tools aren't covered. Does anyone know if this is right?

To state the obvious - the policy terms will answer that question.

Depends on the policy. If not, their home contents insurance may cover stuff in the car so check that.

Happened to a friend of mine when his van was stolen and no, the tools were not covered. They would have to be specifically covered in the policy.

You'd think a builder getting business insurance they'd specify whether or not tools were covered or if they could add on insurance for it or something Sad He's 61 now and whilst probably in no rush to retire it's not going to be that long so it's late to be replacing all his tools. They're hoping the firm he works for will let him use their discount with suppliers but he won't be able to get the same quality he did have.

I'll ask them if they've checked the home policy too.
