Presumably for the will. Don't want to give it to her. Can I give her an alternative address, of a friend or such like?

No.

RuthlessBaggage · 17/08/2012 21:56

Your address, do you mean?

Could you give your solicitor as a contact?

mcfee · 17/08/2012 21:57

Why not five?

Could the OP not give her own solicitor's details for the widow's solicitor to contact her through?

MrsMcEnroe · 17/08/2012 21:57

I'm confused - does your Dad's widow want his address to give to the solicitors, or your address to give to the solicitors, or does she want the solicitors' address?

I'm sorry for your loss OP. Estranged or not, this must be hard for you.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 17/08/2012 21:57

Ditziness, I believe after a certain time wills can be requested from public records anyway.

ANTagony · 17/08/2012 22:00

Is it in your interest to be civil? Could there be things that are of no value to her that you or your DC may value like photos?

I'm not sure that you should go out of your way to accomodate but surely the will needs to be read and the sooner this is dealt with the grieving process can truly begin.

Sorry for your loss, even if he was estranged.

fivegomadindorset · 17/08/2012 22:00

Am now following in MrsMC 's boots, but whatever your fathers OW can legally obtain a copy of the will.

ditziness · 17/08/2012 22:00

Don't want to give this woman my address, she is a nasty piece of work.

Does it need to be legally the address where I live?

I don't have a solicitor.

Oh, I think I misunderstood the OP, sorry!

I think there will be a statement of account that has to go to all beneficiaries but I would think any official contact address eg lawyer or accountant would be ok for that. However, the lawyer distributing funds may be obliged to verify your identity either using your address or asking your advisers to confirm they have verified you.

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 17/08/2012 22:02

OP, do you know if you will be receiving something under the will? Do you know if OW is the executor or if a solicitor has taken that role ?

ANTagony · 17/08/2012 22:03

Create an email address that the official solicitors can contact you through and you can give them your details direct.

fivegomadindorset · 17/08/2012 22:04

Give her the address of the solicitors hadnling the will?

I agree with bran.

ditziness · 17/08/2012 22:27

I don't know if I'll be recieving anything. Doubt it. Perhaps a horrible letter.

I just grew a pair, rang her withholding my number and got the solicitors number. I'll call them on Monday.

Thanks for all the ideas. Appreciate it. And thanks for the condolescences. Altho it's a good riddance situation. He was not a nice man

I've come back late to this but I'm so sorry ditziness - sounds like a horrible situation for you. I think what you've done is just right.

avenueone · 18/08/2012 21:16

Sorry for your/ your children's loss. How have you been contacted about this? you don't have to give her your address - you can give a c/o care of or a solicitor would be better but I am not sure about costs - I am sure you could get an initial consultation cheap enough.

ditziness · 18/08/2012 23:27

Tis no loss. Apart from the loss of a father, but that happened a long long time ago. The man who died at week meant nothing to me.
