Household goods purchased but not collected, company now bankrupt and goods have been taken by liquidators, any advice please!

A friend purchased a large quantity of household goods from a regularly used supplier before the VAT increase and left the goods at their warehouse whilst the friend carried out major building work at home.

They tried to collect the goods last week but found out that the company had gone bankrupt and the liquidators had disposed of their goods. They have full proof of payment for their items.

Any advice much appreciated as to where they stand. They paid over £6000 for the goods.

TIA

Depends on the terms of the contract (the company's T&Cs). If ownership passed on payment, then the liquidator must reimburse them for having taken their goods. If only on despatch or delivery, then they are one of the unsecured creditors.

Not my field though. An insolvency specialist might come along.

Did she pay by credit card? If so, the card company might be able to help.

Thanks for your replies, will get them to look into terms
& conditions, I think they were storing them as a good will gesture. They paid by debit card.

Would it by any chance be a Visa debit card?
