Ongoing neighbour dispute not properly disclosed

I wonder if any of you legal minds can help me. We recently bought a house. On the questionnaire from the vendor it was disclosed that there had been a dispute about access/boundaries between the two neighbours either side of our property but that it was now resolved.

It turns out that not only is this dispute still ongoing but it is also in the hands of solicitors. One side don't live in their property but visit it (it is a project). Withing minutes of meeting both sides they were keen to tell me of the terrible troubles they were having, how much it was costing in legal fees and what awful people the others are.

If we had known this was happening I very much doubt we would have bought the house. Is there anything we can do? Should the solicitor have been more thorough with their checks?

Any advice appreciated. Thank you.

Was the previous owner also involved in the dispute? If not I suspect they wouldn't have to declare it. What does your solicitor say ?

Thanks for your reply. No the previous owner wasn't involved. She did declare that there had been a dispute but not that it was still going on. I haven't spoken to the Solicitor about it because I don't really think there is anything we can do. I wouldn't like to cause a problem for the lady that sold us the house and I'm guessing that IF someone was to be answerable (if there is anything to be answerable to) I guess it would be her.

IIRC they question asked is whether the person you're buying from has had a dispute. What concern is it of yours if your neighbours are in dispute with each other? It won't affect you.

I thought it was only disputes between the person that's selling you the house and a neighbour that had to be declared?

What Collaborate said. How does it affect you? If my neighbours have issues with each other I can't see that it would be any business of mine (except for nosiness of course).
